What Is This Site All About?

Have you ever felt you are being short-changed on the type of advice you get on the net? Have you ever tried looking for help and advice for your computer problems on the internet?

There aren't many places that have the solutions in one place are there? Some sites have solutions for Windows, some for email, some for general computer problems etc. You have to go trawling all over the place to find everything you need. When I started out, I had to spend months and months trying to find places to get my questions answered and to find the tools I needed.

I must have hundreds of sites bookmarked now for all sorts of subjects. Some of them have lots of information, some not so much, but pretty much all of them only deal with one type of computer problem or another.

I don't know about you, but I got rather fed up that there was no real place to go that had everything in one place.

Now, being from a professional programming and design background (20 years working for large and small companies in the UK and Australia), I have always had the ability to draw information from many areas and bring it together to learn about a particular subject, so I personally didn't have much problem in finding and collating the information I needed ... eventually.

It's that "eventually" that bugged me though. It took much longer than I would have wished to bring everything together. There's so much chaff out there that it's really difficult to find the wheat. As I said, as I have a programming background I didn't have too much problem understanding everything once I had found it, but I do pity those who don't have my kind of background.

So now, much further down the road, I have the knowledge necessary to solve pretty much any problem I come across. I'm always learning though. I love learning new things - I can't stop myself. :-)

My other love is to help others and give advice where I possibly can. In fact, I have always seemed to do much better and enjoy myself more when I'm helping others than when I'm doing stuff for myself. Which brings me to my newsletter and website.

After building a few websites for friends, relatives and local businesses, it occurred to me that I could apply my ability of bringing disparate and dispersed information together and helping people to understand it and create that website that I've always longed for.

So here it is.

My purpose is to bring you hints, tips and solutions to help you to quickly and easily solve your computer problems. Actually, there's a bit of self-interest here, as I'm also building my ideal website with the resources and information I would ideally wish to have. So you can be assured there won't be any chaff here.

I also write my own articles for you about anything I've found that warrants a better explanation or just any new trick I've found or developed.

Oh, and you can also have your say in our forum and ask any questions you may have. I do my utmost to answer them and if I can't, I'll find someone who can. Have your say and add your own opinions and experiences. I'm sure everyone is waiting to hear what you have to say. I know I'd love to hear your opinions. So have a good look around and don't be afraid to add your voice to the throng.
